Jetzt erst recht. Antifaschismus ist notwendig! Freiheit für alle Antifaschist*innen!
Die Zeiten werden rauer, der Wind weht scharf von rechts. Klima, Kriege, Inflation – die Welt steht buchstäblich in Flammen. Konfrontiert mit vielfachen Krisen erweisen sich systemimmanente Lösungen zunehmend als unmöglich. Weil die nötigen Antworten unbequem sind, konstruiert der Staat lieber Probleme, die er vermeintlich mit Abschiebungen und Knast lösen kann. Nicht nur in Deutschland, autoritäre Regierungen scheinen weltweit das Ding der Stunde. Bei allen Abstufungen des Grauens eint sie, dass sie der gesellschaftlichen Linken feindlich gegenübertreten. Vor allem rechtsautoritäre und faschistoide Regime dominieren die politische Bühne und verschärfen mit ihren Nationalismen eine globale Kriegsgefahr. Wo ihre Akteur*innen noch nicht an der Macht sind, vernetzen sie sich fleißig, lernen voneinander und stärken sich gegenseitig. Von emanzipatorischen, ökologischen und antifaschistischen Großprojekten kaum eine Spur. Dabei wären diese bitter nötig.
Der rechte Vormarsch
Die Angriffe der Rechten sind so vielfältig wie vielzählig. In den Parlamenten, im Netz und auf der Straße wird der Ton härter; die Inhalte sozialchauvinistischer, rassistischer und nationalistischer. Errungenschaften von feministischen Kämpfen sowie die der internationalen Arbeiter*innenbewegung werden, auch unter Mithilfe ihrer einstigen politischen Vertretungen, rückabgewickelt. Parallel dazu bewaffnen sich Nazis weiter und bauen rechtsterroristische Strukturen aus, üben für Übergriffe in Kampfsporttrainings, schmieden Umsturzpläne und bereiten sich auf einen Tag X und greifen immer unverfrorener linke Projekte an. Gleichzeitig vernetzt sich die militante Naziszene fleißig weiter, unter anderem bei NS-verherrlichenden Aufmärschen in Budapest und Sofia. Eins ist klar: Der rechte Vormarsch wird nicht von der nächsten Regierung aufgehalten, sondern von uns.
Vorwurf: Antifaschismus
Wer sich gegen rechts engagiert, aber mehr will als die parlamentarische Demokratie als solche zu verteidigen, ist schnell mit der deutschen Diskurswalze konfrontiert, die versucht jede kritische Bestrebung als “linke Chaoten” plattzumachen. Wer sich nicht schnell genug distanziert, wo das kapitalistische Wirtschaftssystem in Frage gestellt wird oder gar ein Farbbeutel geflogen ist, bekommt nicht nur von der Springerpresse Probleme.
Zivilgesellschaftliche Akteur*innen, beispielsweise im Bereich der politischen Bildung sowie in der Antisemitismusprävention, verlieren immer mehr den Boden unter den Füßen und die Mittel, um ihre Arbeit fortsetzen zu können. Mit parlamentarischen Anfragen wollen CDU und AfD den Druck auf linke Zivilgesellschaft steigern und Misstrauen und Unsicherheit säen. Berufsverbote bei Lehrer*innen oder Hochschulmitarbeitenden scheinen wieder en vogue. Ermittlungen nach §129 StGB nehmen zu – egal ob gegen die kurdische Bewegung, Klimaaktivist*innen, Antikapitalist*innen und nicht zuletzt Antifaschist*innen.
Aktuell werden umfangreiche Ermittlungen gegen Antifaschist*innen geführt, die während eines internationalen Nazi-Treffens in Budapest – dem sogenannten „Tag der Ehre“ – Nazis angegriffen haben sollen. Länderübergreifend sind ein gutes Dutzend Personen von der Repression betroffen. Antifas werden in Ungarn, Deutschland und Frankreich in Knästen gehalten, sitzen auf Anklagebänken, wurden ausgeliefert oder werden von einer Auslieferung bedroht.
Wer gegen Nazis kämpft, kann sich auf den Staat nicht verlassen
Mit der Verfolgung von Antifas wird nicht der Rechtsstaat verteidigt. Denn es wird nicht die vermeintliche oder tatsächliche Militanz geahndet, sondern die politische Perspektive, die in der Praxis aufscheint: Unsere Leute sitzen im Knast, weil sie Antifaschist:innen sind. Es werden nicht schlicht Straftaten nach Recht und Gesetz verfolgt, sondern im Kampf gegen Linke wird der vielbeschworene Rechtsstaat bei Bedarf auch mal ausgehebelt.
Der strafende Staat legt nicht nur besondere Härte an den Tag, sondern beugt Recht. Um ein “starkes Zeichen” gegen Links zu setzen, wird offen mit dem ungarischen Unrechtsstaat paktiert, fleißig Daten und Akten ausgetauscht und im Fall der verfassungswidrigen Auslieferung Majas die Judikative umgangen. Aktuell verschließen Staatsanwaltschaften die Augen vor basalen Grundrechten. Alle sind vor dem Gesetz wohl nur dort gleich, wo auch ein deutscher Pass vorliegt. So droht – wie im Fall von Zaid – wieder eine Auslieferung. Wer gegen Nazis kämpft, kann sich auf den Staat nicht verlassen – höchstens auf seine Doppelmoral.
Repressionsbehörden agieren nicht neutral, sondern sind selbst politische Akteure, und so verwundert es kaum, wenn die sächsische Sonderkommission LinX allen Skandalen zum Trotz neben unzähligen Hausdurchsuchungen und Überwachungen fleißig Öffentlichkeitsarbeit in Anti-Antifa-Manier betreibt.
Antifaschismus verteidigen!
Budapest und Antifa-Ost-Verfahren sind keine Einzelfälle, in denen der Staat mal besondere Stärke beweisen will. Sie sind nur die Spitze des Eisberges. Es ist kein Zufall, dass in Zeiten des rechten Vormarsches, in denen oppositionelle, emanzipatorische und antifaschistische Bewegung wichtiger sind denn je, genau diese unter Beschuss geraten. Wir dürfen uns daher nicht in individualisierten Abwehrkämpfen verlieren. Antifaschismus muss zurück in die Offensive. Dies schaffen wir nur zusammen, nur wenn wir unsere stärkste Waffe einsetzen: Solidarität.
Wir schauen nicht weg, wenn Schreibtischtäter*innen Hausdurchsuchungen und Überwachung anordnen und mit Auslieferungen drohen. Wir nehmen keinen weiteren Tag hin, indem Antifaschist*innen in Knästen gehalten werden. Wir lassen nicht zu, dass Antifaschismus als Bewegung angegriffen wird.
Wir sehen uns am 14.06.2025 um 14:00 Uhr in Jena, um unseren Frust und unsere Wut gegen ihre Repression zu zeigen und unsere Leidenschaft und Liebe für den Kampf für das bessere Morgen auf die Straße zu tragen. Wir verteidigen Antifaschismus in seiner Vielfältigkeit – gegen alle Spaltungsversuche!

Now more than ever. Antifascism is necessary! Free all Antifas!
Times are getting rougher, the wind is blowing sharply from the right. Climate, wars, inflation – the world is literally on fire. Faced with many crises, systemic solutions are proving increasingly impossible. Because the necessary answers are inconvenient, the state prefers to construct problems that it can supposedly solve with deportations and jail time. Not only in Germany, authoritarian governments seem on the rise worldwide. Despite all the different levels of horror, they are united by their animosity towards the political left. Right-wing authoritarian and fascist regimes in particular are dominating the political stage and intensifying the global threat of war with their nationalisms. Where their actors are not yet in power, they are busy networking, learning from and strengthening each other. There is hardly a trace of emancipatory, ecological and antifascist larger projects. Although these are sorely needed.
The right-wing advance
The attacks from the Right are as varied as they are numerous. In parliaments, online and in the streets, the tone is becoming harsher; the content more socially chauvinistic, racist and nationalistic. Achievements of feminist struggles and those of the international workers’ movement are being rolled back, partly with the help of their former political representatives. At the same time, Nazis are continuing to arm themselves and expand right-wing terrorist structures, practising for attacks in martial arts training sessions, plotting coups and preparing for a day X and attacking leftist projects more and more brazenly. At the same time, the militant Nazi scene continues to network actively, including at Nazi-glorifying marches in Budapest and Sofia. It is clear: the right-wing advance will not be stopped by the next government, it will be stopped by us.
Accusation: Antifascism
Anyone who takes a stand against the right but wants to do more than defend parliamentary democracy as such is quickly confronted with the framing, that tries to flatten every critical movement as ‘left-wing chaos’. Anyone who is not quick enough to distance themselves when the capitalist system is being questioned or a bag of paint is thrown is not only in trouble with the Springer press [1].
Activists in civil society, for example in the field of political education as well as in the prevention of anti-Semitism, are increasingly losing the means to continue their work. Through parliamentary requests, the CDU [2] and AfD [3] want to increase the pressure on left-wing civil society and spread mistrust and uncertainty. Bans on teachers and university staff seem to be back in vogue. Investigations under §129 StGB [4] are on the rise – whether against the Kurdish movement, climate activists, anti-capitalists and, last but not least, antifascists.
Large-scale investigations are currently being carried out against antifascists who allegedly attacked Nazis during an international Nazi meeting in Budapest – the so-called ‘Day of Honour’. There are a good dozen people affected by the repression across several countries. Antifascists are being held in prisons in Hungary, Germany and France, are in the charge boxes, have been extradited or are threatened with extradition.
Those who fight against Nazis cannot rely on the state
The persecution of antifascists is not a defence of the constitutional state. It is not the alleged or actual militancy that is being punished, but the political views that make themselves felt in practice: our people are in prison because they are antifascists. Criminal offences are not simply prosecuted according to law and order, in the fight against leftists, the much-vaunted rule of law is undermined if necessary.
The punitive state not only shows particular harsh behaviour, but also bends the law. In order to send out a ‘strong signal’ against the left, open pacts are made with the Hungarian oppressive state, data and files are actively exchanged and, in the case of Maja’s unconstitutional extradition, the judicial system is bypassed. Public prosecutors are currently turning a blind eye to basic fundamental rights. Everyone appears to be equal before the law only if they have a German passport. As in the case of Zaid, there is once again a threat of extradition. Those who fight against Nazis cannot rely on the state – if anything, they can rely on its double standards.
The repression authorities do not act neutrally, but are themselves political actors, so it is hardly surprising that, despite all the scandals, Saxony’s LinX special commission is busy carrying out anti-antifa-style PR work in addition to countless raids and surveillance operations.
Defend antifascism!
Budapest [5] and the Antifa East [6] cases are not isolated incidents in which the state wants to prove its force. They are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s no coincidence that in times of the right-wing advance, in which oppositional, emancipatory and antifascist movements are more important than ever, it is specifically these that are coming under attack. We must therefore not lose ourselves in individualised defence fights. Antifascism must return into the offensive. We will only be able to do this together and only if we use our strongest weapon: Solidarity.
We will not look the other way when bureaucrats order raids and monitoring and threaten extradition. We will not accept another day in which antifascists are held in prisons. We will not allow antifascism as a movement to be attacked.
We’ll see you on June 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. in Jena to show our frustration and anger against their repression – and to take our passion and love for the fight for a better tomorrow to the streets. We defend antifascism in its diversity – against all attempts at division!

[2] “Christian Democratic Union of Germany” is a right-wing political party in Germany.
[3] “Alternative for Germany” is a far-right political party in Germany. In the 2025 German federal election, AfD received ended on second place behind the CDU.
[4] “§129” is a paragraph in the German criminal law code “Strafgesetzbuch” (StGB) and prosecutes the formation of “criminal associations”. It is also referred to as the “snooping paragraph” because the suspicion justifies extensive police investigations and surveillance measures against those suspected.
[5] “Budapest” refers to the “Budapest complex” of a row ow investigations, imprisonments, trials and (impending) extraditions against antifascists accused of being involved in clashes with neo-Nazis in Budapest in February 2023.
[6] “Antifa East” refers to a complex of state persecution of anti-fascists accused of attacks on German neo-Nazis.
